How jocoHunt works

A quick overview of how jocoHunt works before you launch a product or participate through voting and feedback.

01

1. Weekly ranking cycle

Rankings run on Korea Standard Time from Sunday 00:00 to Saturday 23:59. The weekly standings are ordered by the raw number of votes collected during that period, then the weekly winner and maker-story preparation are finalized before JoCoding's Sunday 18:00 live stream. The weekly #1-#5 are decided strictly by the vote counts you see, and #2-#5 qualify for jocoLetter only when they have at least 5 votes.

The home page "Today's ranking" works the same way — it lists products launched that KST day in pure vote-count order, so the visible vote counts always match the order. If you want freshness instead, use the "Latest" tab on the same card. Category winners are also selected separately from the overall weekly winner.

02

2. Voting eligibility

jocoHunt uses GitHub-only sign-in. This gives us a lightweight signal that the maker actually writes code.

Every vote counts as 1 — there is no weighting. Instead, voting itself is opened only to members who meet the conditions below, so the visible #1 always matches the actual #1.

  • GitHub account at least 7 days old
  • At least one public GitHub commit
  • Cannot vote on your own product
03

3. Abuse response

Suspicious voting patterns are reviewed by admins and voided when necessary. We don't publish the specific detection criteria or operations process, to reduce circumvention.

If you spot something that looks like abuse, please report it via the report action or the operator's email.

04

4. Scheduled launches

Makers can choose a future launch date. On that date the product is published alongside other scheduled launches, so makers can prepare copy, screenshots, gallery and team info ahead of time.

Already-launched products can re-surface via the changelog feature when there's a major update.

05

5. Winner pipeline

After the weekly winner is finalized, the flow continues through a maker-story form, JoCoding live stream and jocoLetter feature, permanent badge, and a spot in Best of jocoHunt. Products ranked #2-#5 with at least 5 votes are also queued for jocoLetter.

  • Maker-story form email is sent to the winning maker
  • The maker submits the maker-story form
  • The #1 product is featured on JoCoding's Sunday live stream and in jocoLetter
  • #2-#5 products with at least 5 votes are featured in jocoLetter
  • Featured badge and maker winner count are recorded
06

6. Structured feedback

Comments are shaped so makers can act on them. Makers pick which feedback categories they want when launching, and commenters answer in those buckets.

  • Feedback categories: UX, pricing, idea validation, naming, marketing, GTM
  • Only the maker can mark feedback as ‘helpful’
  • Helpful feedback increases the commenter's reputation score (shown on their profile)
07

7. Maker badges

Badges (weekly winner trophy, category winner, hall of fame) are awarded automatically when the criteria are met, and appear on your profile.

08

8. Categories · Browse · Best of

Each launch picks one or more of 14 categories (AI Tools, Developer Tools, Design, No-code, Productivity, Marketing, B2B SaaS, Web Apps, Mobile Apps, Creator Tools, Automation, Education, Games, Other). Browse them at /products, and see daily/weekly/monthly/yearly/category Best of at /leaderboard.

09

9. Activity seeds and feedback requests

The more you genuinely help other makers, the more ‘seeds’ you collect — feedback a maker marks as helpful counts the most. Spend the seeds you collect to turn on a ‘feedback request’ on your own product and ask the community one focused question.

Important: seeds are only used to request more feedback. The weekly #1 is still decided purely by community votes — seeds have no effect on vote counts or ranking.

  • We reward contributions that genuinely help makers, not drive-by comments posted just for points.
  • A feedback request runs for one product at a time, for 72 hours.
