jocoHunt Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-05-15

Article 1. Purpose

These Terms set forth the rights, obligations, responsibilities, and other necessary matters between the jocoHunt operations team ("Operator") and users regarding use of jocoHunt (service domain: jocohunt.com, "Service").

Article 2. Definitions

The terms used in these Terms have the following meanings.

  1. "Service" means the online community platform where Korean builders register and introduce K-products they have made, and other users discover, vote on, and provide feedback on them. The weekly first-place product may be introduced on the JoCoding live channel and jocoLetter newsletter.
  2. "User" means a member or non-member who uses the Service under these Terms.
  3. "Member" means a person who signs up through GitHub OAuth, enters into a service use agreement with the Operator, and continuously uses the Service.
  4. "Non-member" means a person who views publicly available content without signing up.
  5. "Maker" means a member who registers and operates a product they made.
  6. "Product" means software, websites, apps, content, or other outputs registered by a member.
  7. "Post" means all content registered or written by users, including product information, comments, feedback, reports, and maker-story responses.
  8. "Vote eligibility" means the criteria the Operator sets to prevent abuse, under which voting is allowed only to members who meet them (GitHub account connected, account at least 7 days old, has public commits, and not voting for one's own product).

Article 3. Posting and Revision of Terms

  1. The Operator posts these Terms and contact information in a way users can easily find on the Service or a separate terms page.
  2. The Operator may revise these Terms within the scope permitted by applicable laws, including Korea's Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Personal Information Protection Act, and Framework Act on Consumers.
  3. If these Terms are revised, the Operator will announce the effective date and reason for revision with the current Terms at least 7 days before the effective date. If the revision is unfavorable to users, the Operator will provide at least 30 days' prior notice.
  4. If the Operator clearly announces that failure to express refusal by the effective date will be deemed consent, and a user does not expressly refuse, the user is deemed to have agreed to the revised Terms.
  5. If a user does not agree to revised Terms, the Operator cannot apply the revised Terms to that user, and the user may terminate the service agreement.

Article 4. Interpretation

Matters not provided in these Terms and interpretation of these Terms are governed by applicable Korean laws and general commercial practices.

Article 5. Formation of Service Agreement

  1. The service agreement is formed when a person who wishes to sign up agrees to these Terms and the Privacy Policy, completes GitHub OAuth authentication, applies for membership, and the Operator approves the application.
  2. The Operator may reject an application or terminate the agreement afterward if:
    • the applicant uses another person's identity;
    • false information is provided;
    • the application is made for a purpose that harms public order or good morals;
    • the applicant intends to use the Service for an improper purpose;
    • the applicant is under 14 years old;
    • the applicant previously lost membership under these Terms.

Article 6. Changes to Member Information

  1. Members may view and edit profile information, including handle, display name, bio, interest categories, and notification preferences, through the settings page.
  2. Items synced from GitHub OAuth, such as name, email, and avatar URL, are reflected after changes are made in GitHub and the user signs in again.
  3. Members are responsible for updating changed information, and the Operator is not responsible for disadvantages caused by failure to update it.

Article 7. Account Management

  1. Member accounts depend on GitHub OAuth. Members are responsible for securing their own GitHub accounts, including passwords and two-factor authentication.
  2. If a member's GitHub account or Service session is used by a third party or suspected to be compromised, the member must notify the Operator immediately and follow the Operator's guidance.
  3. The Operator is not responsible for damages caused by a member's failure to notify or follow guidance.

Article 8. Notices to Members

  1. The Operator may notify members through the email address synced from GitHub or through in-app notifications.
  2. Notices to many unspecified members may be posted on the Service or notice area for at least 7 days. Important matters related to a specific member may be notified individually.

Article 9. Service Provision and Changes

  1. The Operator provides the following services:
    • maker profile registration and display;
    • product registration, scheduled launch, and public product pages;
    • votes, comments, feedback, bookmarks, and reports;
    • follows and notifications between makers and users;
    • daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and category rankings and Best of pages;
    • maker-story guidance and exposure guidance for JoCoding live and jocoLetter;
    • other services additionally developed or provided by the Operator.
  2. If service content, operations, or technical specifications change, the Operator will announce the changed content and provision date in advance for a reasonable period.

Article 10. Service Interruption

  1. The Operator may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, replacement, failure of information and communications facilities, communication interruption, or similar reasons.
  2. If users or third parties suffer damages due to temporary suspension, the Operator will compensate for them unless the Operator proves absence of intent or negligence.
  3. Because the Service is free, no separate refund obligation arises. If regular or long-term interruption is expected, the Operator will announce it in advance.

Article 11. Free Service

The Service is provided free of charge. The Operator does not operate payment or billing features. If paid features are introduced later, the Operator will announce them in advance through these Terms or separate terms and obtain explicit user consent where required.

Article 12. Rights to Posts and License

  1. Copyright in posts created by members remains with the relevant member.
  2. Members grant the Operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use their posts as necessary for operating, displaying, transmitting, distributing, and promoting the Service, including JoCoding live exposure, jocoLetter exposure, and automatically generated social sharing images. This license does not apply after account deletion or post deletion, but already distributed materials such as sent newsletters do not need to be recalled.
  3. Copyright and other intellectual property rights in materials created by the Operator, including UI, logos, badge images, and ranking page designs, belong to the Operator.
  4. Users must not copy, transmit, publish, distribute, broadcast, or otherwise use Operator-owned information for commercial purposes without prior approval.

Article 13. Privacy

  1. The Operator collects the minimum personal information necessary to provide the Service.
  2. The Operator notifies users of the purpose of collection and use and obtains consent where required.
  3. Details on personal information processing are provided in the Privacy Policy.

Article 14. Operator Obligations

  1. The Operator will not engage in conduct prohibited by law or these Terms or contrary to public order and good morals, and will strive to provide the Service continuously and stably.
  2. The Operator will maintain security systems to help users use the Service safely.
  3. The Operator will strive to handle legitimate opinions or complaints promptly and will notify users of reasons and schedules if prompt handling is difficult.

Article 15. User Obligations

Users must not:

  1. register false information;
  2. use another person's GitHub account, email, handle, avatar, or other information without authorization;
  3. modify information posted by the Operator without authorization;
  4. transmit or post computer programs or information not allowed by the Operator;
  5. infringe intellectual property rights of the Operator or third parties;
  6. damage reputation or interfere with business of the Operator or third parties;
  7. post obscene, hateful, harassing, threatening, violent, discriminatory, exploitative, or otherwise objectionable content;
  8. repeatedly post spam comments or content;
  9. harass, threaten, abuse, or interfere with another user's use of the Service;
  10. vote for their own product, operate multiple accounts, manipulate rankings through same-IP cluster voting, or otherwise manipulate votes or rankings improperly;
  11. engage in other illegal or improper acts.

jocoHunt has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

Article 16. Ranking and Vote Eligibility

  1. Every vote is counted equally as 1, with no weighting. To keep rankings fair, the Operator grants voting eligibility only to members who meet all of the following. More details and data subject rights are described in Article 12 of the Privacy Policy.
    • A GitHub account must be connected.
    • The GitHub account must be at least 7 days old.
    • The account must have at least one public commit.
    • Voting for one's own product (self-voting) is blocked.
  2. If abuse such as same-IP cluster voting or rapid voting from new accounts is suspected, the Operator may review and void the relevant votes.
  3. Members may request an explanation or object to automated decisions under the Privacy Policy.

Article 17. Post Management

  1. If a post violates Article 15 or applicable laws, the Operator may hide or delete the post without prior notice and may suspend or terminate the member's Service use depending on severity.
  2. The Operator may filter or limit the visibility of objectionable content, including profanity, hate speech, spam, and violent expression.
  3. Users may report posts that they believe infringe rights or violate these Terms through the in-app report feature. The Operator will review reports within 24 hours and take appropriate action, including deleting or limiting visibility of offending content, restricting account access, or terminating membership.
  4. Users may block abusive users. When a user blocks another user, that user's content is immediately hidden from the blocking user's feed and the Operator is notified for review.

Article 18. Account Deletion and Loss of Membership

  1. Members may delete their account at any time through the settings page (/settings) or by emailing the Operator.
  2. Upon account deletion, personal information is destroyed according to the retention and use periods in the Privacy Policy. Posts may be retained in anonymized form for community continuity. Members who want posts deleted should request deletion separately before account deletion or delete them directly in the Service where available.
  3. The Operator may terminate membership after prior notice if a member repeatedly or materially violates Article 15 or if a reason listed in Article 5.2 is discovered after signup. Prior notice may be omitted in urgent or serious cases, in which case the reason will be notified afterward.

Article 19. Limitation of Liability

  1. The Operator is exempt from responsibility for failure to provide the Service due to force majeure, including natural disasters, DDoS attacks, network failures, or failures of external providers such as GitHub, Resend, Cloudflare, Tencent Cloud, or PostHog.
  2. The Operator is not responsible for Service disruptions caused by a user's fault.
  3. The Operator does not guarantee revenue, exposure, conversion, sales, or similar outcomes, and is not responsible for damages caused by materials obtained through the Service.
  4. The Operator is not responsible for accuracy, reliability, or legality of user posts and has no obligation to intervene in disputes between users or between users and third parties.
  5. Because the Service is free, the Operator's liability may be reasonably limited to the extent permitted by law, except for damages caused by the Operator's intent or gross negligence.

Article 20. Dispute Resolution

  1. The Operator operates a complaint handling process. Opinions and complaints may be submitted to [email protected].
  2. If a dispute arises, the parties will first try to resolve it through mutual consultation.
  3. If consultation fails, the parties may apply for mediation through the Korea Consumer Agency, the Content Dispute Resolution Committee, or the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee under the Personal Information Protection Act.

Article 21. Jurisdiction and Governing Law

  1. Lawsuits related to these Terms or Service use will be filed with the competent court under Korean civil procedure rules.
  2. Laws of the Republic of Korea govern disputes between the Operator and users.
